My miracle morning ritual

If there is one thing you can do to really change your day: Morning routines are where it’s at. It is amazing how a small tweak to your day can have such a big impact. They really do work you just have to try it out for yourself.

The most successful people have some sort of  morning routine because it helps them raise their energetic vibration and attract success to them.

You can choose to be – Proactive or Reactive and whichever choice you make, dictates how the remainder of your day will flow…

  • Reactive – you wake up, grab your phone and check your emails/instagram first thing, before you know it you’re already late so you quickly get ready and end up rushing out the house with breakfast in one hand and half replying to an email on your phone in the other (no judgement I only know because I have been there!) By starting your day like this you’re already being dictated to by external factors that can sometimes be out of your control
  • Proactive – You wake up, gently stretch, make your bed, take the morning at a slow relaxed pace, do some breath work (meditation) and plan your day ahead with intention. This way you are focusing on your internal state of being which is within your own control.

Remember when you are calm and centered vs frazzled and rushed this can impact every single decision you make during the day.

Can you see how your morning really does set you up for the day ahead?

I thought I’d share a few tips on how I like to align myself in the mornings to give you some inspiration. There’s no set way, you need to be consistent but also flexible and realistic to ensure that you get the most out of your morning routine.

I always begin my day by:

1.Brushing my teeth – now being a dentist im obviously going to advocate this one! It helps to wake you up and feel more fresh and a huge tip is tongue cleaning.. I highly recommend using a tongue cleaner like this to help remove bacteria that collects on your tongue. Its an ancient ayurvedic practice that helps detox the body first thing! I have been doing it pretty much my whole life and I genuinely never travel without it… trust me.. I’m a dentist!! It’s a must.

2.Drinking warm water – this helps you to rehydrate your body after not drinking anything all night and also helps kick start metabolism and get things moving. Sometimes people like to add a little fresh lemon/lime or a sprinkle of himalayan salt to assist rehydration. According to eastern medicine cold water isn’t recommended as it can dampen your digestive fire.

3. Making my bed – There is something about an unmade bed that makes me feel like my day will be messy, so I will always make my bed! ! It gives me a sense of accomplishment before my day has even begun (dopamine happy hormone hit right there!)

These are my absolute definites and then I generally switch up the routine dependent on how I feel to include:

1.Journalling – sometimes free writing in the morning really helps connect with myself and sometimes I write about things as if they are already manifest through dream day journaling which really gets me into a feel good state (so incredibly powerful!)

2.Visualisation – Your world is a projection of your thoughts so sitting down and intentionally thinking about positive scenarios and how you would like to feel really speeds up the manifesting process. Combining this with journaling makes you a super attractor!

3.Meditation – Meditation is personal and there is no right or wrong way, just a way that resonates with you. For me it can be completely different everyday! Sometimes I like to sit in silence, other times I practice transcendental meditation and there are also times where I will listen to a guided meditation. The key is to do what feels right for you. Bringing awareness to your breathing for even short periods of time can really calm the body.

4.Dance – I do like to dance (not very good at it) but I will throw on a playlist on spotify whilst im getting ready – sometimes I will dance and get positive energy moving in my body!

The thing about ‘morning routines’ is that you don’t have to be so prescriptive. You can change it up each morning according to how you feel otherwise instead of setting yourself up for an incredible day ahead you’ll feel deflated because you haven’t followed your ‘prescriptive morning routine’.

Just remember it’s all about having fun and feeling good!
